MUMMY POST: Going from a cot to a toddler bed!

Oliver turned two on new years day and he is growing braver and stronger with each day. After a few close calls where he tried to climb out of his cot we decided that it was time to make the shift to a toddler bed.
His cot converted into a toddler bed so it only took an hour or so to change it. I left the same duvet, base sheets and pillow on to make sure that it was still familiar to him. We made a big fuss the whole weekend that he was going into a “big boy bed” just like his uncle and one of our friends sons who he idolises to make it an exciting thing for him.
It has been a bit of a struggle, he obviously now realises that he doesn’t HAVE to stay in bed… so he doesn’t. But its just a case of keep returning him to bed and making it clear that its time for sleep. All toys go away up out of reach and his bedtime stories (hes had these playing since birth) go on.

Bedtime is taking longer these days, with the keep going in to put him back but its getting easier each night! Next step… Potty training!

Let me know if you have any tips or tricks for helping him to stay in bed!
