Salt Dough

This is the second time i have made salt dough, but its SO easy and Oliver loved playing with it i thought i would share how we did it.


1 cup of flour

1/2 a cup of salt

1/2 a cup of water


Put the flour and salt in a bowl and gradually add the water until it becomes a smooth dough.

The first time i made this was just before Oliver turned one, and we used the dough to make an ornament of his footprint. So i have used some of the dough to do that again this year. I want to glaze them and use them as decorative stepping stones in the garden once it has been done.


We used the rest of the dough to make christmas decorations. I have a cutter set from IKEA that allows you to make standing up cookies (or in this case ornaments). So we did a christmas tree. Then we cut out some stars and used a straw to make a hole in them so once they are baked and decorated we can add a pretty ribbon and put them on the tree.

Once you have cut your shapes, lay them (Flat!) on some greaseproof paper, bake on a low heat for 2-3 hours.

When the ornaments are cooled down, you can paint them or glaze them with PVA glue mixed with water.

Im keeping the final results a secret for the moment as we have made a couple of christmas presents!
