So many people on this crazy weightloss journey live for their cheat days. If you had asked me 3 months ago if i thought cheat days were worth it i would have said no… why work your arse off for 6 days of the week to the blow it all for the seventh? Cheat day is not a black hole in the space/time continuum, its not a void where calories don’t exist just because you weighed in that morning.
However, a few months down the line and reaching target has changed my perspective on things. You can’t deprive yourself of the treats and things that you are craving forever. So now I do have a cheat day, not every week, but if theres an event or an occasion i will go off plan for it, and i’ll try not to feel guilty for it. Ive worked hard to get where i am so i think i deserve a little time off here and there. The important thing is to make sure that that treat meal or treat day doesn’t turn into a treat week/month/year because one treat meal won’t undo all your hard work, but a treat year will. You have to make sure it stays what the name suggests, a treat, that you have every now and again.
Following the slimming world plan means that i can enjoy a small amount of the things i like every day, so i don’t feel like I’m missing out on them too much, I’m one of those people who will happily go without syns all day so i can have chocolate and ice cream (hellooooooo chocologic and wall light low syn options) in the evening while I’m vegging in front of the TV!
So in my opinion cheat days are all about the balance. If you keep them as a treat, every now and again then you won’t undo all your hard work. If your cheat days out weigh your on plan days then its going to take you a lot longer to reach your goal…. and trust me its so worth it when you get there
